How to apply for your Indian E-Tourist Visa
Please ensure that you have registered and applied for the appropriate visa online before you depart for the Mental Health Placement in India. You need to apply for an E-Tourist Visa (Electronic Tourist Visa; ETA) online here.
All SLV.India Volunteers are responsible for obtaining their own visas. This link (www.indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html) will give you a list of countries that are eligible for the ETA visa online process and a step by step guide to applying for the visa online.
The visa costs about £40-£100 depending on your nationality and country of origin. Please ensure your passport is valid for 6 months after your arrival date in India. If not you will be refused your visa.
You can only apply a maximum of 120 days and a minimum of 4 days before your arrival date in India, so please do not apply too early or too late.
The ETA may only be obtained twice within each year and is only valid for a maximum period of 60 days from the date you land.
When you are filling in the e-Tourist visa application, under 'Visa Service' please select the 'e-Tourist Visa' option, and then select 'Recreation/Sightseeing'.
Please find below Reference name and address needed for your application:
The School of Ancient Wisdom
I.V.C. Road, Devanahalli 562110,
Contact Number: +91 99028 42917
Once you have submitted your application it can take approximately three working days for your visa to be processed. You'll be notified by email when it is approved. You can then log in to the website and download a copy of your visa, which will have your photo on it. Please then print out a copy of your visa.
You will need a printed copy of your visa at the airport in order to board your flight, so please double check you have this, as a copy on your phone is not enough.
