SLV.Global Placement: Sri Lanka Placement

Current role: "I now volunteer at an elderly persons home for individuals suffering with dementia and depression, doing activities with them and offering support."

Tell us about your SLV.Global experience: "An incredibly unique opportunity that allowed me to work in a new culture and country and gain hands on experience that would be more difficult to gain at home (UK). I was able to learn about Sri Lanka and its history, travel to beautiful places within the country and improve my leadership and communication skills with service users of all ranges of abilities, as well as make long lasting friendships! There were lots of benefits of doing this placement."

Tell us what you gained from your SLV.Global placement: "I gained confidence in my own creative thinking, in my leadership ability, in talking in front of large groups of people and in managing my time effectively so I was never unprepared for a project. All of these skills will help me in my future career!"
