Ed first join the team in Sri Lanka in 2015 as a Coordinator and reprised this role in Bali in 2016, before being promoted to a management position in 2017 - again on the Isle of the Gods! Once completing his degree in Psychology, Ed decided to join the SLV.Global HQ team, and managing the overseas staff team in Bali. Ed travelled to Bali in April 2018 to lead the summer season with a bang, and returned to the UK only to announce that our placements in Bali would start back up in March 2019, a good three months earlier than usual!
As Bali Operations Manager, and all-round superstar, Ed has become the essence of our Bali placements and an invaluable addition to the team. His outgoing and warm personality makes him a joy to work with, and a fantastic manager to have in country. His creative and engaging project ideas always help to inspire the volunteer teams and Ed is one of the best at leading by example.
'My favourite part of the job is being able to work and be immersed in such an amazing culture, being invited into someone else's home living like a local, eating the most amazing food and being treated as you you were part of their family. I also appreciate how SLV.Global places a huge importance on working culturally sensitively by providing volunteers with the appropriate training, increasing widening their mental health awareness.'
