Volunteer Happiness Officer
Shannon graduated from University of Lincoln with a BSc in Psychology with Clinical Psychology in September 2017. Shortly after, in January 2018, she embarked on a placement with SLV.Global in Sri Lanka where she learned about cross-cultural approaches to the treatment of mental health concerns. Shannon's dedication and hard work on placement made her a joy to collaborate with and, lucky for us, she decided to stay in the SLV.Global world and joined the London team as a Volunteer Happiness Officer a few months later.
Shannon's duties now revolve around interviewing and supporting volunteers pre-departure. She is there to help volunteers joining the team with any query or concern they may have and we're so glad we got to keep her!
"I think my favourite part of the role is just being that first port of call for volunteers at all stages of their placement - being able to relive my experience and help out volunteers where I know I struggled too is a really great part of it! It's also really nice to work so closely with the volunteers, identifying aspects that could be improved or changed in order to make everything that bit smoother for them pre- and post-departure."
