Meditation has long been documented to play a role in the promotion of postive mental health. Chakra Meditation is an ancient meditative practice which, more recently has been introduced as a way to reduce anxiety.

The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to "wheel" or "disk". In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are believed to be seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. The chakras connect to nerve points or plexuses in the body and, according to the Western practices, these seven points influence the nervous system and endocrine glands. Each chakra is associated with a specific color from the seven rays of the spectrum light, or rainbow.

In Chakra Meditation the teacher will encourage you to visualize a chakra in your body and imagine a swirling wheel of energy where matter and consciousness meet.
