The Neuropathology Brain Museum is located in the Neurobiology Research centre at NIMHANS. It endeavours to educate the public by spreading the word about neuroscience and aims to reduce the stigma that’s associated with neuropsychiatric illness. The neuropathology department has been collecting brain specimens for the past 35 years and there are over 400 of these exhibited here within the NIMHANS brain museum.
It’s not just the number of brains exhibited that is vast. You’ll also encounter a wide range of different brains, and different brain disorders. From brain tumours and infections, to neurodegenerative diseases and head injuries, each brain has a story to tell. You’ll also have the opportunity to get up close to a human brain and even hold it, while you receive a talk and introduction to the structure and anatomy of the brain.
