In this pack, you’ll find lots of information designed to help you with any questions you might have at this stage. But hey, you’re a person, and so are we, so we welcome you to get in touch via email or phone too.
You can contact us directly for anything as simple as asking about the weather to requesting an extension for your placement acceptance fee, just give us a call in the office and we’ll do our best to assist you.
Once you’ve secured your place, we’ll give you access to your own SLV.Global Portal, which includes downloadable documents covering everything about visas, packing, what to expect when you arrive and some additional forms we’ll need you to fill in.

Clinical & Ancient Psychology Program Summary & Timetable
Our Educational Program is designed to help you gain valuable knowledge of global mental health whilst also giving you a unique insight into ancient Eastern practices.
The first part of the week will include seminars led by leading Psychiatrists and Clinical Psychiatrists at NIMHANS, the largest psychiatric facility in India, alongside a journey into the spiritual world of yoga in the world’s first ever yoga centre for psychological well-being.
The latter part of the week will involve exploring the School of Ancient Wisdom. Here you will discover ancient, holistic practices such as yoga meditation and mindfulness through workshops led by clinical professionals.

What’s Included in your Program Fees?
Our aim is to keep program costs as low as possible, we know you’re on a budget. We limit money spent on marketing, with over 70% of the team recruited by word of mouth and all coordinators being voluntary. To find out more follow this link.
What’s Included in the Program Fee
- All Workshops & Seminars
- Accommodation & Meals: Several meals are included whilst you are participating in the program. Any meals that occur during free time may not be included.
- Transport: From the airport to your accommodation, and to all workshops and training sessions.
- Support: The team is on call 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.
What's not included
- Flights: £350-750/$450-1000/€400-900
- e-Tourist Visa: £40-£100
- Insurance: £40-£100/$50-$130/€50-120
- Spending Money: £50-80 The majority of your spending money is spent at the weekend in Mysore.
On the Participant Portal, there’s step-by-step information about the visa process, but for now, in summary, all volunteers are required to apply for an Indian e-Tourist Visa online.
All volunteers are responsible for obtaining their own visas. Please ensure you are eligible to apply for a visa by checking the list of countries here.
This process is (relatively) straightforward and can all be done online. There are step-by-step guidelines to walk you through the process on this site, which involves completing in an online form and also uploading a PDF copy of the picture page of your passport and a JPEG photo of yourself.
Volunteers are responsible for booking their own flights. We ask that you arrive in Bengaluru International Airport on the start date of your placement between 4am – 9pm. Once confirmed on the team we will put you in touch with travel experts who can assist you in booking your flight.
It’s got to be done, so don’t get on that plane until you’ve got sufficient insurance to cover your whole trip. Always check the conditions of your insurance and make sure you’re covered for private hospital care.
No one likes needles, but if you’re travelling abroad and/or working in a clinical setting you need inoculations for your own protection. We will give you more information on this once your place is secured and but always follow the advice of your GP or local travel clinic who know the score.
This is our number one priority, which is why you never travel alone. We provide 24 hour support, 7 days a week and are always on call for emergencies. It should be noted that everyone joining our Program needs to do their own research and you are encouraged to check FCO Travel before depart. Please read this blog post on safety whilst travelling abroad.
Some participants have fundraised at least part of their Program fees. Hosting bake sales and car boot sales are a great way to make money and new friends. Universities occasionally offer grants and bursaries for educational programs. Once you’re on the team we can help with more detailed information about fundraising in your Participant Portal.
Participating in this programme can, at times, be both psychologically and mentally tiring, so it's a requirement that everyone on the team is in generally good health. After you have confirmed your place, we’ll need to know more about your medical history.
