Viva la Weekend! Bali Edition!
Undertaking a Mental Health Placement with SLV.Global in Bali is hard work and not meant to be a holiday, but that doesn't mean you can't live it up at the weekend. This is your time to explore some of the most intriguing cultural sites in Asia and get horizontal on some of the most stunning beaches in the world.
The areas where you'll live and work are pretty rural. And although Ubud is only about 30 minutes away, we know you'll want to spend your time off where you can really maximise the fun and the freedom.
From Mt. Batur to Mt. Agung and the countless waterfalls dotted around the island, there are many a volcano to conquer and a waterfall to chase. You're really spoiled for choice in Bali if you'd like to see the world from a different perspective. High above the clouds, you can actually touch the sky and enjoy spectacular views...that is before your legs turn to jelly.
Your Instagram followers won't know what hit them! With fine, white sand, palm trees swaying lazily in the breeze and sunsets ripped strait out of your dreams, these idyllic spots are a mere few hours from your homestay. Finish work on 1pm on Friday and be paddling in the sea by 4pm. Cocktail optional.
Get all Eat Pray Love with your bad self and seek out stunning temples and mythical palm readers if that's your thing. Not so much? How about the beautiful and staggeringly unique art of Balinese dance or a spot of traditional woodcarving? You'd be amazed at what you can do with your feet! All aspiring yogis make at least one pilgrimage to Bali. Is this yours? An amazing array of yoga classes is practically on your doorstep on any given weekend. Are you down(ward dog)?
Bali is home to a huge variety of amazing animals and there are plenty of opportunities to see them in the wild. Head to the Sacred Monkey Forest to indulge your cheeky side or swim with Mantas or dolphins in the wondrously warm ocean depths.
With so many exciting species dotted all around the island, we recommend grabbing some of your fellow teammates and spending at least one weekend making some furry (or not-so-furry) new friends!
