Autumn Update

It's been all go this autumn for SLV.Global! We've participated in and hosted some great events, welcomed some of our core SLV Sri Lanka team to London, launched our snazzy new website and logo and somehow found time to interview a record number of applicants for our Mental Health Placements. But there's still more to come!

Back to School for the King's College Conference

Our team lives and breathes global mental health, so of course we were all in attendance at last weekend's Post-War Reconciliation conference at King's College London! This unique event, to commemorate the UK Sri Lanka Trauma Group's (UK-SLTG) 20th anniversary was really special. World renowned international experts and professionals, including psychologist and mentor to our volunteers, Nivendra, shared their knowledge and experience during the day-long event, which was as fascinating as it was moving.

The timing couldn't have been more perfect, as this month also marks our five-year anniversary working in partnership with UK-SLTG and Samutthana in Sri Lanka. We took this as a sign from the universe that we needed to celebrate by throwing a party. With kotthu. So that's what we did.

It was incredible to see so many previous SLV.Global volunteers in attendance, some from as far back as 2012! It was essentially a huge reunion. Thank you to everyone who came and for those of you who couldn't, you were missed!

Putting the "East" in Easter

Our first Indian Clinical and Ancient Psychology Program of 2017 is on the 9th of April, which just so happens to be smack dab in the middle of many universities' Easter break. What better time to take advantage of this unique program that not only expands your knowledge of global mental health, but also gives you a practical insight into exciting Eastern practices like yoga and meditation?

Sri Lankan Celebrities spotted in London

slv global team

That's right! SLV Sri Lanka co-founder, Yasintha, and Assistant Manager, Ravi, landed in London last week and you can forget about Kate and Wills, these two are the biggest thing in the UK right now.

Despite social calendars full to the point of bursting, Yasintha and Ravi have been hard at work since they arrived. From the King's College Conference and talks at universities to holding meetings in the London office, they don't stop! We're so pleased to have them here are we're certainly not the only ones! Check their Facebook pages to see if they're coming to a city near you!

If you haven't met Yasintha and Ravi yet then you're missing out. The best place to get to know them is in Sri Lanka on one of our stellar Mental Health Placements.
