SLV.Global is a mental health organization, which provides degree-specific volunteer placements in Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Our placements offer people the chance to promote positive mental health in a multitude of professional environments with varying client groups. Volunteers on placement teach English, work with children and with people who have specific needs and mental health concerns.

Summary of the role:
As an Assistant Volunteer Manager, you are a senior part of the Volunteer Experience Team and are responsible for maximizing volunteer experience, through pastoral care, project support, and training. As an integral part of the management team, you are responsible for delivering the placement to the highest possible standard, by providing volunteers with extra support and guidance. This role is directly line managed by the Volunteer Support Manager.

Maximizing volunteer experience consists of, but is not limited to; pastoral care for volunteers, motivation, support, and training in the preparation and execution of sessions, responding to moderate/minor incidents and providing volunteer teams with the necessary training to optimize their time on placement. As an Assistant Volunteer Support Manager, you will be responsible for developing and assisting with the training, management, and support of the Volunteer Experience Team.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Providing pastoral care and support to volunteer teams and Volunteer Experience Team
• Main conduit of communication between the Volunteer Experience Team and the Volunteer Support Manager
• Providing training, support, and guidance to the Supervisors and Peer Mentors, ensuring all are aware of SLV.Global's key aims and ethos, to enable them to provide the required amount of support and knowledge to the volunteer teams

Support & Crisis Management:
• Providing pastoral care to volunteer teams, assisting with any physical and emotional concerns
• Attending hospital visits with volunteers as required, providing pastoral care
• Motivate and support volunteers when planning quality sessions to promote positive mental health.
• Attending sessions and trial and test workshops, to ensure quality
• Attend volunteer accommodation and social events, to maximize volunteer experience
• Be present at weekly feedback meetings to record information
• Maintaining, improving and attending volunteer Jungle Break when required
• Manning a 24/7 emergency contact line on rotation
• Provide weekly supervision and coaching Supervisors for professional development
• Providing pastoral support to volunteers in the event of a crisis
• Responding to moderate/minor level incident reports, providing follow-up care with volunteers

• Completing relevant volunteer health and safety documents
• Recording weekly feedback from the Volunteer Experience Team
• Assisting with any disciplinary procedures

• Assisting with volunteer induction and placement training
• Assisting and Leading Volunteer Experience Team training

Essential Skills and Experience:
• A kind, compassionate and can-do attitude
• Having a person-centered approach to your way of working with excellent levels of communication and interpersonal skills, social intelligence and sound and fair judgment
• Previous experience of working in a team to achieve a common goal and motivating, leading and supporting a small team of adults, to maximize levels of success
• Previous experience of motivating large teams of volunteers from different backgrounds to achieve excellent results and experience of working in a different culture to your home-nation
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality training, using a multitude of mixed media methods to maximize learning outcomes
• Proven ability of the organizational and forward-thinking skills needed to recognize and prioritize a heavy-workload
• The ability to work autonomously, using initiative to be able to respond both proactively and re-actively

Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Experience/ knowledge of the mental health sector of your home country or abroad
