“My three-month mental health placement experience in Sri Lanka was unlike any other! I had the unique opportunity to learn about the Sri Lankan mental healthcare system from leading professionals and to run activity sessions with so many amazing service users. I formed friendships with many like-minded people and became inspired regarding job opportunities available internationally for people with a psychology background. I had the chance to travel such a breathtakingly beautiful country including snorkelling in Mirissa, exploring the tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya, and climbing the challenging Adam’s Peak. I was able to be fully immersed in the Sri Lankan way of life including living like a local at a homestay in Homagama, enjoying Amma’s delicious curries each night, and partaking in birthday cake eating traditions. I cannot wait to become an SLV.Global Ambassador, particularly to highlight this incredible work experience and travelling opportunity for psychology students in Australia!”
