“I had the most amazing time on a Peer Mentor placement in Sri Lanka this summer and I could not recommend it enough! I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with service users with varying mental health problems as well as working with children suffering from special needs. I loved planning sessions with other volunteers because we were able to share ideas and create really interesting projects. It was incredible to spend 12 weeks in country since I was able to build up such a good rapport with service users that I saw on a weekly basis in addition to being able to provide pastoral care to my homestay volunteers. It was unbelievable to also have the chance to travel and meet people who are like-minded and care so passionately about mental health in the same way. The staff are all really friendly so will make you feel at home from the beginning all the way through to the end. They are all there to help and support you, so whatever worries you have you can be rest assured that they will do their best to find a solution. I had the summer of a lifetime and wish I could give the same experience to every psychology student!”
